Bio

Anthony Tuf Francis, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Teacher Development and Educational Studies at Oakland University in Metro Detroit, Michigan. He is lead faculty of the history and social studies secondary program.  He received his B.Ed. with a concentration in secondary social studies from the University of Toledo in 1996.  He taught history and social studies in Toledo Public Schools from 1997 – 2007. He received his M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from Bowling Green State University in 2005, and his Ph.D. in Teacher Education with a specialization in history and social studies education from the University of Michigan in 2013. Tuf (pronounced toof) is also a thirty-year veteran musician who plays percussion, guitar, drum kit, vocals, songwriting, and recording. Currently, he is a family man, tenured professor, scholar, public speaker, active musician, and aspiring author.  His research interests focus on initial teacher certification, education program development, and building partnerships with inservice teachers. His speaking and musical efforts focus on helping churches and other organizations raise money for philanthropic causes.
